My 3 Steps to Learn Any Language

I want to share with you the 3 steps that completely changed the way I learn languages.
Step 1: Structured Learning (The Counterintuitive Start)
This might sound traditional -and even a little boring -but it worked better than anything else: enrolling in a structured course or following a complete textbook series.
For years, I thought I could do it on my own. I tried for two to three years -studying alone, choosing my own textbooks, even practicing with friends or a girlfriend from that country. It didn’t work. The truth is, not all textbooks are created equal -some are outdated, others modern and practical. And when you self-study, it’s almost impossible to know the difference.
What finally worked for me was joining structured programs with native teachers, especially ones that use full immersion(learning the language only in the target language, no English). That gave me the foundation I was missing.
Step 2: AI Practice (The Breakthrough)
Just a year ago, I was skeptical about AI for language learning. Now, I'm a co-founder of the Victor AI app, and I've seen firsthand how powerful it is.
Why? Because speaking practice is the biggest missing piece. You might know the vocabulary, but when a native asks you multiple questions in real time, your brain freezes. AI solves this by
letting you
-
Train speaking and listening at a natural speed
-
Get corrections instantly
-
Role-play real situations (ordering food, checking into hotels, meeting new people)
It’s structured, safe, and repeatable. That’s why AI has become the best way to build fluency step by step.
Step 3: Social Learning (The Hardest, But Most Rewarding)
This is the toughest one: interacting with natives. But it’s also the most powerful.
My whole YouTube channel is built on this step -going out, speaking with people on the streets, and making mistakes in public. That’s how I broke through to conversational fluency in some of the hardest languages in the world. I’ve been living in Asia for more than 8 years now, and I’ve spoken foreign languages more often than my native Russian. Social learning didn’t just teach me grammar or vocabulary -it gave me confidence.
These 3 steps aren’t easy, but if you apply them, you can reach a conversational level in as little as 12 weeks. Not full fluency (that takes years), but enough to hold real conversations.
I hope this helps you on your journey.
