How Chinese Changed My Life

You probably saw my most recent video, which already passed 100k views on both my English and Russian channels. It’s about my first trip to China in six years.

What’s crazy is this: even though I wasn’t living in China all this time, my Chinese actually improved. And when I went back, I spoke with more confidence than ever.

That experience reminded me of when I first started learning Chinese almost 10 years ago - and how it completely transformed me.

Mastering a complex language like Chinese gave me unshakable confidence. Once I realized I could conquer Chinese, I started picking up Korean and Japanese too. But it didn’t stop with languages. I pushed myself in completely different areas - like calisthenics - and went from struggling to do pull-ups to mastering muscle-ups. I developed new work skills, stepped into challenges I would’ve once avoided, and overall became a stronger, sharper, more charismatic person.

In a way, Chinese gave me another personality. I became more open-minded, more interesting, and more confident in every aspect of life. Looking back, I can say without a doubt - it was one of the best decisions I’ve ever made.

And here’s the thing: I made that decision in 2015. Ten years later, I’m reaping the rewards of not procrastinating. I could’ve delayed. I could’ve quit when it felt impossible in the beginning. But I didn’t.

That’s why I’m sharing this with you. Because in 5 or 10 years, you’ll look back at the choices you make today. Will you regret postponing? Or will you be proud you took action?

Learning Chinese - or any foreign language - can be truly life-changing. My hope is that you’ll be the one who decides to start today, not “someday.”
