Escape the TikTok Generation Trap

The problem with today’s short-form content is that it creates what I call the TikTok Generation. People with ever-shortening attention spans scroll endlessly through TikToks, Reels, and Shorts.

Don’t get me wrong -I do it too sometimes. But the difference is that I also dedicate long, focused sessions to work and study. I didn’t grow up in this environment, so my attention span wasn’t destroyed. But the current generation - young and old alike - is getting trapped.

Every single day, it’s becoming harder for people not only to learn a new skill, like a foreign language, but even to sit still for a two-hour movie.

That’s why I want you to avoid falling into this trap. Instead of being addicted to scrolling, I want you to be addicted to learning and improving yourself. Be addicted to becoming a better version of yourself every single day.

While others scroll TikTok, you should scroll through your new words to review. While others binge Reels, you should binge lessons inside a language app like Victor AI (I'm proud to be a co-founder). Replace the habit of distraction with the habit of growth.

Learning a language - whether Chinese, Korean, or Japanese - demands focus. It demands long attention spans. And if you can train your brain for that, you’ll develop the single best countermeasure to this “goldfish attention span” epidemic.
